UAB Concludes Road Swing With Saturday Game At East Carolina

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The UAB women's basketball team will play the last of its four consecutive road games on Saturday when it takes on East Carolina. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET at Williams Arena.
Saturday's matchup between UAB and East Carolina will be the 14th meeting between the two programs, with the Pirates holding a 7-6 edge in the all-time series. The two teams met twice last season, with each team winning on its home court. The last meeting in Greenville resulted in an 85-82 victory for East Carolina on Feb. 21, 2008.
UAB enters Saturday's game with a 7-12 overall record and a 2-4 mark in Conference USA. The Blazers dropped their last outing, 64-53, at Marshall this past Thursday.
Senior guard Britney Jones is UAB's leading scorer and ranks 43rd in the nation with 17.5 ppg this season. She has scored in double figures 16 times this year, including seven 20-plus point efforts. Jones' 17.5 ppg leads C-USA, while her 21.2 ppg against conference opponents is first in the league as well. In addition, Jones is contributing 3.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.1 steals per game for the Blazers.
Sophomore guard Amanda Peterson is chipping in 12.1 ppg for UAB, led by her stellar three-point shooting with 48 treys this season. She is first in C-USA and 35th in the nation in three-point baskets per game (2.5).
East Carolina comes into the game with an 11-7 record, including a 2-3 mark in league play. The Pirates won their last outing, 83-66, over Memphis this past Thursday to improve to 2-0 at home in C-USA games.
East Carolina is led by a pair of senior guards in LaCoya Terry and Jasmine Young. Terry paces the team and is second in the league in scoring with 17.3 ppg, while also adding 4.7 rpg, 2.6 apg and a team-best 1.8 spg.
Young is putting up 11.3 ppg for the Pirates and leads the squad in assists with 5.9 apg, which ranks her 15th in the country in that category.
