Blazers Face East Carolina On CSTV Thursday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB women's basketball team will make its season debut on national television when it takes on the East Carolina Pirates Thursday on CSTV. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET at Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum.
The Blazers and the Pirates will be meeting for the 13th time on the hardwood, including the second time this season. The series is tied at six-all after UAB grabbed an 84-77 overtime win earlier this year at Bartow Arena.
UAB enters Thursday's contest with a 12-13 overall record and a 8-4 mark in Conference USA that puts the Blazers fourth in the league standings. UAB's last outing resulted in an 84-51 home loss to SMU this past Sunday.
Leading the Blazers in almost every category is senior guard/forward Diamond Rogers. Rogers has recorded team-high numbers in points (17.6 ppg), rebounds (8.8 rpg), assists (3.5 apg) and blocks (16). In conference games only, she is averaging a double-double with 18.2 points and 10.0 boards per outing.
Also making a big contribution for the Blazers this season is senior guard Crystal McFadden, who is putting up 13.2 ppg and 5.4 rpg. Junior guard Britney Jones is scoring 11.2 ppg while leading the team in steals with 2.6 per contest.
East Carolina is posting an overall record of 12-13 and a league mark of 6-6 that puts the Pirates in a tie for fifth place in C-USA.
Junior guard LaCoya Terry paces ECU with 14.7 ppg, while junior guard Jasmine Young is adding 14.6 ppg and team-best numbers in assists (6.3 apg) and steals (2.0spg).
