BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - After a nine-day break for the holidays, the UAB women's basketball team will return to action on Monday evening when it hosts Alabama A&M at 7 p.m. CT in Bartow Arena.
Monday will mark the fourth meeting between the two programs on the hardwood. UAB holds a 3-0 lead in the all-time series, including an 82-77 win over Alabama A&M in the last meeting on Dec. 18, 2005.
UAB is 4-7 overall, including 3-3 at home, this season. The Blazers' last game was a 73-49 loss to Georgia on Dec. 20.
Senior guard Britney Jones is UAB's leading scorer with 14.8 ppg, while also contributing 3.9 rpg, 3.5 apg and 2.0 spg.
Sophomore guard Amanda Peterson is adding 12.1 ppg and 4.1 rpg for the Blazers. Peterson is UAB's top three-point threat, sinking 31 buckets from beyond the arc this season.
Alabama A&M enters the contest with a 2-7 overall record, including a 0-5 mark on the road. The Bulldogs have dropped six straight and their last outing resulted in a 76-65 loss at Alabama last Monday.
Katrich Williams leads Alabama A&M with 15.9 ppg, followed by Chaymieyon Moss with 7.7 ppg. Brittney Manning paces the Bulldogs on the boards with 4.2 rpg, while also adding 5.6 ppg.
