Women's Basketball Travels For Friday Game At Charlotte

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB women's basketball team is set to travel to Charlotte, N.C. for a Friday evening contest with the Charlotte 49ers. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET at the Halton Arena. The game will be televised regionally by Mid-Atlantic Sports Network.
The Blazers (1-1) are looking to bounce back from a 77-64 loss at South Alabama this past Monday. Prior to that, UAB won its season-opening game over Stetson, 73-58.
Leading the charge for UAB this season is senior guard Britney Jones. Jones is shooting 37.5 percent and averaging a team-best 19.0 ppg, while also adding 5.0 rpg and 2.0 apg.
Junior guard Fatiha Salaam is coming off a career-best game with 16 points at South Alabama. Salaam is contributing 14.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per outing for the Blazers while shooting 57.1 percent from the floor.
Inside, junior forward Tamika Dukes is giving UAB 12.0 points, 9.5 boards and 2.0 assists per game. Dukes recorded her first double-digit rebounding effort of her career with 11 rebounds against South Alabama.
Charlotte has a 2-1 record entering Friday's game, including its most-recent outing that resulted in a 69-46 win at Hampton last Tuesday. The 49ers only loss of the year came at the hands of North Carolina State, 62-55, this past Sunday.
Sophomore guard Shannon McCallum is coming off the bench and pacing Charlotte with 12.0 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. Junior forward Erin Floyd is also averaging double figures with 11.0 ppg, while also adding 4.7 rpg for the 49ers.
The game will be broadcasted regionally on television on the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN). MASN is a regional sports network in the Maryland area.
