Blazer Duo Named All-Conference USA

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Senior guard Carmen Guzman and junior forward Diamond Rogers have been named to the 2007 All-Conference USA Women's Basketball Teams, announced the league office on Tuesday morning. Guzman has earned a spot on the all-conference first team, while Rogers was named to the second team.
Guzman has repeated her first-team All-C-USA honors, earning the same accolade last season. Leading UAB in scoring and ranking second in the league with 21.1 ppg, Guzman has ranked among the best in the nation throughout the year in scoring, currently standing 11th in the country.
Guzman has a current streak of 28 consecutive double-figure scoring games, including reaching the 20-plus point plateau on 19 occasions. The New York, N.Y. native also contributes 5.7 rpg, 3.2 apg and 2.3 spg to the Blazers' efforts.
Rogers earned the first all-conference honor of her career by being named to the second team All-C-USA. She averages 15.1 ppg and a team-high 7.8 rpg, while also leading UAB in blocks with 33.
Hailing from Jackson, Miss., Rogers has tallied a team-best eight double-doubles on the season, while also leading UAB in scoring seven times and rebounds in 10 games.
An all-around player for the Blazers, Rogers has been efficient from three-point range, hitting 52-of-110 from beyond the arc this season and leading the league in three-point field goal percentage (.473). She also currently holds the UAB career record for three-point field goal percentage at .413.
Joining Guzman on the all-conference first team is Tye Jackson (Houston), Jillian Robbins (Tulsa), Lauren Neaves (Rice) and Jami Montagnino (Tulane).
The second team consists of Rogers, Cherie Mills (East Carolina), Jasmine Young (East Carolina), Janielle Dodds (SMU) and Modupe Ishola (Marshall). C-USA also named a third team, which is made up of D'Aundra Henry (Tulane), Kendra Reed (Southern Miss), Jareica Hughes (UTEP), Amber Eugene (Southern Miss) and Ashley Langford (Tulane).
