UAB Women's Basketball Falls At Tulane, 66-48

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The UAB women's basketball team fell to the Tulane Green Wave Saturday afternoon in Fogelman Arena, snapping the Blazers' four-game winning streak and breaking the two-way tie for first place in Conference USA. UAB stands second in league play with an overall record of 14-10 and a 9-3 mark in C-USA. Tulane now holds sole possession of first place in the conference at 10-2.
UAB trailed by just three points at the half, 29-26, with 14 of the Blazers' first-half points courtesy of senior Carmen Guzman. Junior Diamond Rogers also added nine points in the first half, while freshman Fatiha Salaam had three.
The Green Wave used a 17-3 run to open the second half to extend their lead over UAB, 46-29 with 11:36 remaining in the game. The Blazers attempted a comeback, going on a 14-4 run of their own to move within seven points of Tulane, 50-43, with 6:38 on the clock. Tulane went on yet another run to move ahead by as much as 18 and gain the victory over UAB, 66-48.
The Blazers were led by Guzman with 21 points and 11 rebounds, her third double-double and 24th consecutive double figure scoring game of the season.
Junior Christon Ingram also nabbed a double-double, her first of the year, with 11 points and 13 boards. Rogers scored nine points and snatched 11 rebounds against the Green Wave.
Tulane was led by Jami Montagnino and D'Aundra Henry with 15 points each, while Dominique Philpots contributed 13 points. Ashley Langford scored seven points and added 11 assists during the day.
For the game, Tulane shot 42.6 percent from the field and 54.5 percent from the charity stripe. UAB shot 26.2 percent overall, including 22.2 percent from three-point range, and hit 80.0 percent of its free throws.
The Blazers will be back in action on Thursday, February 15 when they host the UCF Golden Knights at 7 p.m. in Bartow Arena.
