Palmer Named UAB Scholar-Athlete of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Senior Sally Palmer of the UAB women's soccer team has been named this week's UAB Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Palmer is a three-time member of the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and leads the Blazers in goals (8) and assists (4) this season. The Blazers are 9-7-2 (5-3-1 C-USA) after shutting out Marshall, 3-0, on Sunday.
Palmer scored the team's first goal in the first half against the Thundering Herd on Sunday.
Palmer's team-leading goals total this season has moved her up to third all-time at UAB in career goals with 28. Four of her eight goals this season have been game-winning goals.
She is tied for eighth all-time at UAB with 15 career assists.
The forward from Tyler, Texas was named to the All-Southeast Region teams by both Soccer Buzz and the National Soccer Coaches Association of the America (NSCAA) in 2006 after leading the Blazers with nine goals.
Palmer is a civil engineering major at UAB.
The Blazers have completed their regular season and will now begin play at the Conference USA Tournament in El Paso, Texas Nov. 7-11.
