Five Players Named To C-USA Media Teams

BIRMINGHAM. Ala. ---- Five UAB football players were named to the 2007 Conference USA All-Media Teams Tuesday as announced by the league office.
Junior placekicker Swayze Waters and senior defensive back Will Dunbar were both named to the All-Conference USA Media First Team, while junior linebacker Joe Henderson was named to the second team.
Freshman linebacker Mike Tashman and tight end Jeffrey Anderson were named to the All-Conference USA Media Freshman Team.
Waters, who handled all of the Blazers kicking duties this season, was 22-of-28 kicking field goals and hit 11 field goals from 40 yards or further. Waters set several school records during the season, including the mark for most field goals made in a single-season and field goals made in a single-game, which also tied the league mark. His 52-yard field goal against Alcorn State tied the UAB school record for longest made field goal.
Dunbar finished the season as the league's leading tackler, with 122 stops in ten games. In addition, Dunbar had two interceptions, five tackles for loss and one touchdown on the season. He was named C-USA Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 10 after his 17 tackles and interception return for a touchdown against Florida State.
Henderson recorded 109 tackles on the year to rank seventh in the conference and also ranked seventh in tackles per game with an average of 9.1 per game. He recorded five sacks on the season, including 9.5 tackles for loss, and two interceptions.
Tashman finished the season in the conference with the most tackles per game by a freshman. He averaged 6.4 stops per game and ended the year with 64 tackles, with seven tackles for loss and two sacks. He also forced two fumbles and had one interception.
Anderson finished his rookie campaign with 15 catches for 216 yards and one touchdown, including a career-best five catch, 94-yard game against Marshall.
