UAB Opens Conference Play Against Marshall Friday Evening

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - After a grueling non-conference slate to begin the year, the UAB women's soccer team's schedule doesn't get any easier. The Blazers will open up the Conference USA portion of the schedule on Friday evening when they host Marshall at 7 p.m. at West Campus Field. The game marks the conference opener for both squads as UAB enters the match with an overall record of 2-6, while the Thundering Herd of Marshall are sporting a mark of 4-3-1.
UAB and Marshall have met on two previous occasions, with the Blazers ending victorious in both instances. The last time the two squads played was in 2005, where UAB earned a 6-0 win over the Thundering Herd in Huntington, W. Va.
The previous time that the two schools played in Birmingham, UAB grabbed a 2-1 win during the 1998 season.
The Blazers will play a pair of games over three days at home, beginning with Marshall on Friday evening. UAB will then tangle with East Carolina on Sunday, October 1 at 2 p.m.
