BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB men's golf team began the final day of the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate in 11th place on Tuesday morning. At the conclusion of the day, the Blazers wound up in 10th place overall by shooting a round of 301 (+13). The University of Alabama maintained its day-one lead by shooting five-over in the final round to capture the tournament title with a three-round total of 869 (+5).
Tennessee moved up to second place with a third-round, even-par score of 288 to end the two-day event with a team total of 875 (+11). Florida State, UCF and Auburn round out the top five with three-round scores of 882 (+18), 885 (+21) and 886 (+22) respectively.
Senior Garrett Osborn led the way for the Blazers, shooting a 73 in the third round and completing the tournament with a score of 218 to end up tied for seventh place. Sophomore Zack Sucher tallied rounds of 75-74-72 (221) to tie for 14th, while freshman Adam West put together a two-day score of 230 to put himself in a tie for the 52nd spot. Junior Brad Smith shot rounds of 76-77-78 (231) and sophomore Josh Thompson brought in a score of 234 to finish in 55th and 62nd.
Florida State's Jonas Blixt shot five-under over three days to take first place individually. Brian Noonan of LSU finished second at two-under and Matt Savage of FSU grabbed the third spot with one-under for the tournament.
