Osborn, Sucher Lead Late UAB Charge

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Freshman Zack Sucher shot a two-under 70 and junior Garrett Osborn fired a one-under 71 in Tuesday's third and final round of the 2006 Seminole Intercollegiate hosted by Florida State. The Mountain Brook, Ala., product finished tied for 19th overall while UAB wound up 13th in the field.
Osborn finished with rounds of 75-72-71 for a three-round total of 218 or two-over par. Stephen Lewton of N.C. State and Dustin Johnson of Coastal Carolina went to a playoff after tying with a 13-under score of 203 for the tournament. Lewton won the playoff.
Sucher (77-80-70=225) was UAB's low scorer of the day with a career-best, two-under par 70. He finished tied for 44th on the leaderboard. Clark Brown (78-72-79=229), Josh Thompson (76-82-75=233) and Kyle Sapp (75-80=86=241) also competed for the Blazers.
Coastal Carolina Came from five shots behind second-round leader East Tennessee State to win the tournament by seven strokes. The Chanticleers defended their Seminole title with a final round 286 team score. ETSU inflated to a 301 and finished fourth. N.C. State and North Carolina were second and third, respectively. Ole Miss and Mississippi State tied for fifth.
UAB next travels to historic Pinehurst Country Club in Pinehurst, N.C. for its intercollegiate tournament March 19-21.
