UAB Women's Basketball Head To Marshall and ECU

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB women's basketball team is back on the road this weekend, as the Blazers travel to Marshall and East Carolina. The Blazers face Marshall on Friday night at 7 p.m. (ET), before heading to Greenville, N.C. to take on the Lady Pirates at 2 p.m. (ET) Sunday afternoon.
UAB is looking to avenege its losses to both teams earlier this season. On January 6, East Carolina snapped the Blazers' seven-game win streak when it defeated UAB, 59-53, in Bartow Arena. Two days later, the Thundering Herd handed UAB a 75-65 defeat. The Blazers are currently 12-9 overall and 5-5 in C-USA action. UAB is also 2-2 on the road in league games. UAB is led by Carmen Guzman's 16.2 points and Christon Ingram's 6.1 rebounds a game.
Marshall is currently 11-10 on the season and 6-4 in Conference USA. The Thundering Herd is coming off a 57-50 victory at Houston Monday night. The win snapped Marshall's five-game losing streak. Sikeetha Shepard-Hall leads the Thundering Herd with 14.1 points per game, while Modupe Ishola is contributing 10.6 points and a team-best 7.7 rebounds a contest. As a team, Marshall averages 62.4 points per contest, while hitting 41.3 percent of its shots
ECU comes into the weekend with a 13-8 overall record and 5-5 mark in the conference. The Pirates are coming off a 65-73 loss at Rice on Feb. 6. Cherie Mills leads the Pirates with 17.4 points per game, while Jasmine Young is averaging 11.0. ECU is shooting 38.4 percent from the field, while averaging 63.0 points a game. UAB takes on the Pirates for the second time this season and the seventh time in school history. ECU defeated the Blazers, 59-53, earlier this year on Jan. 6, at Bartow Arena.
