UAB Finishes 14th At Mercedes

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. - The UAB men's golf team shot a final round 308 Tuesday to wrap up 14th place at the Mercedes Benz Collegiate at the Sawgrass Country Club. UAB's 934 finished ahead of Mercer in the 15-team field. UCLA won the team title with a 54-hole score of 896.
Junior Garrett Osborn shot an even par 72 in the final round after a disappointing 80 on Monday to finish tied for 17th overall with a 54-hole total of 227. Senior Clark Brown tied for 19th with a 228. Brown carded a 78 on the final day of play.
Oscar Floren of Texas Tech shot a one-over 73 on the final day of play to edge UCLA's Erik Flores for the individual medalist honors.
Zack Sucher (83-79-79=241, T-60th), Matt King (83-81-79=243, T-66th) and Kaylor Timmons (89-76-81=246, T-72nd) also competed for UAB, which snapped a streak of four straight tournaments finishing third or better.
The tournament was played on the par-72, 6,910-yard Sawgrass Country Club Course.
UAB next returns to action at the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla., on Feb. 17.
