Blazers Top Bulls For Eighteenth Straight Home Win

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -Lawrence Kinnard and Paul Delaney scored 13 points each to lead UAB to a 78-62 victory over South Florida.
Wen Mukubu scored 12 points and Maurice Gibbs had 11 for UAB (8-5). The Blazers had a 35-25 lead at halftime and led by as many as 22 points in the second half.
Melvin Buckley scored 16 points, and Kentrell Gransberry had 13 points and 11 rebounds to lead South Florida (7-5). McHugh Mattis added 12 points for the Bulls.
South Florida committed 21 turnovers and lost its fourth game in a row. The Bulls now have lost eight in a row to UAB.
South Florida grabbed an early 8-5 lead but Mukubu drove for a basket and dunked off a steal to spark a 10-0 UAB run.
The Bulls tied it 21-21 on a short jumper by Buckley. But Mukubu hit a 3-pointer to start a 14-4 run that gave UAB its 10-point halftime lead.
Gibbs scored UAB's first 11 points of the second half, hitting three straight 3-pointers from the left corner.
UAB won its eighteenth straight home game, dating to the 2005-06 season.
