BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB football team continued its preparations for Saturday's season finale game at UCF, going through 24 periods of practice in full pads on Tuesday afternoon. The cold weather that has been lingering in the Birmingham area did not deter the Blazers from going full speed during their two-hour practice session.
"I think today went good," said UAB head coach Watson Brown. "It was cold, but I think it was good day and we got some things accomplished."
In gearing up for Saturday's game against Conference USA foe UCF, Brown and his staff have the challenge of putting together a game plan that works around the many injuries that the Blazers are dealing with.
"We have to decide who's healthy and who can play," said Brown. "We have to see what we have left on offense and defense and do what those kids can do best.
"We have evaluated the things we have done this season in terms of all the injuries that we've had. Most of these injuries are joints. We've only had a couple muscle problems. With the shoulder, knee and ankle injuries, there is not much you can say but that's the luck of the draw."
The Blazers and the Golden Knights are preparing to battle on Saturday, November 25 at the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla. It will mark the fourth meeting between the two schools, with UCF holding a 3-0 all-time series lead.
Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. EST. The television broadcast of the game can be seen regionally on CSS. The radio broadcast can be heard on the Blazers ISP Sports Network, beginning with the pre-game show at 10:30 a.m. EST. Birmingham listeners can follow all the action on WYDE 101.1 FM. The broadcast can also be heard on WIQR 1410 AM in Montgomery.
