BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB women's basketball team will be without one of its top players for the upcoming 2006-07 season. Senior guard Crystal McFadden has suffered a knee injury, more specifically a torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL), which will sideline her for the year.
The New York, N.Y. native has been a crucial part to UAB's success during her time as a Blazer, earning a starting position since her freshman season. McFadden is a member of the elite 1,000-point club with 1,065 points over three years, ranking ninth in UAB history in scoring average with 13.1 ppg. She is also listed tenth in the Blazer record books in career three-point field goal percentage, hitting 60-of-183 (.324) during her career.
McFadden has already undergone surgery to repair the torn ACL and will go thru the rehabilitation process during the year. She will apply for a medical redshirt this season and if granted, will play her senior year during the 2007-08 season.
