UAB Women's Basketball Welcomes UCF To Bartow Arena

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB women's basketball team hosts UCF in Bartow Arena Sunday at 2 p.m., for the first time in over a decade. The Blazers own a 4-1 advantage in the all-time series with UCF, however the Golden Knights have only played once in Bartow Arena. UAB recorded a 103-88 victory in that contest, on Feb. 11, 1991.
The Blazers are coming off an exciting come-from-behind victory over Southern Miss Friday night. Sophomore LaKitha Murray hit a jumper with less than a minute remaining in the contest to give UAB its first lead of the game, as the Blazers held on to defeat Southern Miss, 73-70.
UAB is currently 10-8 overall and an impressive 8-3 in Bartow Arena this season. The Blazers are being led by Carmen Guzman's 15.5 points per game, while Christon Ingram is grabbing 5.9 rebounds a contest. As a team, UAB is hitting 40.3 percent of its shots while averaging 64.9 points per contest.
UCF improved to 5-14 overall and 3-5 in conference with a 65-54 victory at Memphis Friday. Francine Houston leads the Golden Knights with 13.3 points a contest, while Shelby Weber is pulling down 7.2 rebounds a contest. As a team, UCF averages 57.5 points a game, while hitting 38.0 percent of its shots.
