Blazers Drop Series Finale at Houston, 8-1

HOUSTON, Texas -- Houston captured the series victory against UAB with an 8-1 win over the Blazers on Easter Sunday at Cougar Field. The Cougars (11-14, 4-2 C-USA) scored at least once in each of the first seven innings and got a strong pitching performance from Brad Lincoln who held the Blazers to just six hits in a complete game effort to earn his second victory of the season. UAB is now 17-7 overall and 4-2 in C-USA play.
Houston grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first courtesty of Kevin Roberts' second home run of the season.
Leading 2-0 in the bottom of the third, the Cougars put another run on the board. Jake Stewart led off with a double down the right field line and came around to score when Brad Lincoln ripped a two-out double over Clint Toomey's head in center field.
Trailing 5-0 in the top of the fifth, UAB got its first hits and run of the game. Seth Rollin singled up the middle and scored two batters later when Ben McCullars notched his second RBI single of the series.
The Blazers return to action Wednesday when they host Samford at 7 p.m. at Young Memorial Field.
