Women's Basketball In New Orleans To Take On Tulane

NEW ORLEANS --- The UAB women's basketball team will face the Tulane Green Wave on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Fogelman Arena in New Orleans. The Blazers are coming off a tough 65-61 loss at Southern Miss on Friday night.
After being down by as many as nine in the second half, the Blazers battled back to cut USM's lead to one (59-58) with 2:42 left in the game, however Shannon Stueber's field goal with 1:21 left in the contest put the Lady Eagles up three as they never looked back. UAB was led by Lauren Brittingham's 14 points. Domaneice Moore tallied a double-double for UAB with 13 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. Free throws plagued the Blazers throughout the game, as UAB was just 8-of-22 from the charity stripe. The Blazers struggled especially in the second half, as they connected on only 3-of-14 from the free-throw line.
The Green Wave fell to USF, 65-61, at home on Friday night. Tulane's Laketha Hampton tallied 19 points and 10 rebounds in the loss. The Green Wave average 61.0 points a game and are shooting 39.5 percent from the floor. Hampton leads Tulane with 16.9 points and 7.3 rebounds a contest, while D'Aundra Henry contributes 13.5 points a game and has 88 assists this season.
Tulane holds a 16-6 advantage in its all-time series with the Blazers. UAB won the last meeting, 80-74, in Birmingham, snapping an eight-game losing steak to the Green Wave. Their last time in New Orleans, the Blazers fell 60-58 during the 2001-02 season.
