BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
The UAB men's soccer team will host its annual Elite Players Camp Jan. 6-8, 2006 at West Campus Field on the UAB Campus. The camp is open to boys ages 15 and up who will learn technical and tactical skills from UAB coaches with members of the UAB men's soccer team on hand for demonstrations.
"The Elite Players Camp has become a popular method for youth soccer players to get advanced training heading into their spring seasons," UAB head coach Mike Getman said. "Youth soccer in the state of Alabama is particularly strong, so the extra advantage of some technical and tactical skill a player can get from some advanced instruction before their seasons start can give them an edge other players may not be privy to. It's a fun event that winds up being fun for the players and the coaches as well."
Enrollment in the camp is limited to ensure individual attention from college coaches. All players are expected to be in good shape and prepared for a vigorous weekend of activity.
The cost is $195.00 for the three-day event which also features a games session to end the weekend.
