BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- Several members of the UAB women's basketball team visited with patients at Children's Hospital Thursday afternoon. The players passed out posters and signed autographs in the Oncology and Pulmonary areas. Additionally, several patients took pictures with the Blazers.
"They put a smile on my face," said UAB junior guard Carmen Guzman. "Some of the kids aren't able to get on the court and play. It makes you realize how lucky you are and helps put things in perspective. These visits make everything we do worth it. After a long, hard practice, they definitely put a smile on my face."
Involved in the activity were Guzman, sophomore guard LaKitha Murray, junior forward Shimena Moore and freshman guard Emily Hayes.
The Blazers begin the 2005-06 season on Nov. 18, when they host Georgia Tech in Bartow Arena at 7:00 p.m.
