UAB To Host Louisville On Sunday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- The UAB women's basketball team continues its first weekend of Conference USA action when it hosts Louisville Sunday at 2 p.m. The Blazers have won three of their last four games, including a 63-45 win over Cincinnati on Friday in their first C-USA game of the season.
The Blazers overcame an early deficit to defeat Cincinnati for the first time in five meetings, their last win coming on Feb. 2, 2001, as UAB took a 61-58 win in Birmingham. Crystal McFadden and Carmen Guzman led all scorers with 15 points in the game, while Domaneice Moore was the game's leading rebounder with a career-high 11 boards.The Blazers hit 40.8 percent of their shots in the contest, going 20-of-49 from the floor, including 5-of-10 from beyond the arc.
Louisville dropped their first C-USA contest on Friday, falling to USF, 67-59, in Tampa, Fla. The Cardinals are 9-5 on the season, but only 1-3 as the visiting team. Jazz Covington is leading Louisville with 16.9 points per game, while Missy Taylor contributes 15.1. Covington and Taylor are the Cardinals' leading rebounders, both averaging 7.4 boards per contest. As a team, Louisville is shooting 45.7 from the floor, but only 28.0 percent from beyond the arc.
The Cardinals hold an 8-5 series advantage over UAB and have won four of the last five meetings. Louisville won the last meeting, 83-70, on Feb. 6, 2004 in Louisville, Ky., as four Cardinals tallied double-digits.
