Blazers Fall At Marquette, 65-48

MILWAUKEE, Wisc. --- Crystal McFadden had her second double-digit performance of the weekend, but the UAB women's basketball team was unable to defeat Marquette, as the Golden Eagles took a 65-48 win.
"I'm proud of our team for competing throughout the game," said UAB head coach Audra Smith. "We got ourselves in a hole in the first half, but the players kept fighting. Crystal McFadden had a tremendous game for us again. She was outstanding all weekend for us."
McFadden led the Blazers with 17 points and 11 rebounds in the contest, while playing the entire 40 minutes of action. McFadden was 7-of-14 from the field and went 3-of-5 from the charity stripe.
UAB (5-16, 2-6) was once again plagued by poor shooting, as the Blazers hit 19-of-59 (32.2 percent) from the floor and were unable to connect on six attempts from beyond the arc.
Marquette (14-6, 5-2) was led by Christina Quaye's 21 points and eight rebounds. Lesley Juedes contributed 12, while Carolyn Kieger added 10 to the cause. The Golden Eagles hit 44.4 percent of their shots from the floor and went an impressive 7-of-18 from beyond the arc.
The Golden Eagles held UAB to nine field goals in the first half, jumping out to a 28-19 lead at the break. Quaye had 17 for Marquette in the first 20 minutes of action.
UAB returns to Bartow Arena to host Charlotte on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 2 p.m., before taking on East Carolina on Monday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m.
