BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB Head Coach Mike Anderson
On the number of turnovers in the game: "I thought we came out a little sluggish, and it was more true in the second half than it was in the first half. I thought 10 turnovers was too many in the first half, and (15 was) especially (too many) in the second half. Sitting in the game, it seemed like it was even worse, but in the end we won the game and that's what is important. We had some good things happen tonight, but in the end we were really sloppy with the basketball and you can't do that against good teams. South Florida is one of those teams and they would not go away, they came back on us a couple of times."
On the game: "I thought at times that there were spots when our guys played very, very well. I thought there were times when our defense was very stifling. We caused 28 turnovers and they only shot 38 percent. I told the guys that that was good to see for a change. We've had other teams shoot for a better percentage against us, but they were short-handed tonight."
USF Head Coach Robert McCullum
On the game: "To a large degree I think the turnovers, for us, is the storyline of the game. That was probably the single biggest area of concern. I thought the one thing we could do more than any other was limit our turnovers. That's saying a lot any time you play UAB. That's what they do, that's what they do well and we weren't able to do that. Half of their points came off turnovers. Unfortunately, we weren't able to capitalize on turnovers as they were. They had 42 points off 28 turnovers and we only had 23 points (off of theirs). I thought there were numerous opportunities for us to get back in the game and yet we were unable to capitalize on that. "
