Coach Bobby Lutz Quotes
On the game "This is a great win for out team against a team that I have unbelievable respect for. Mike--I just don't think he gets enough credit, even when he got credit last year during their run. They are so good at their system. They don't let you relax, ever ... constant pressure, and they are very unselfish kids."
On snapping UAB's 16-game home win streak: "For us to be able to come in here and win was good. I thought this was out best game of the year, and we needed every ounce of it. I couldn't be prouder of our guys. Our bench matched their bench which is pretty difficult to do. I just couldn't be prouder of our guys."
Coach Mike Anderson Quotes
On the game "The late turnovers we had were really costly. I thought the crowd was great, they came out in numbers tonight and they really helped give us a chance there at the end. We had some inopportune turnovers at the wrong time. If you had told me that we'd hold Withers to eight points and make him work for those, I would have thought that we'd have been in good shape to win this ballgame. They had some other guys step up, and let's give Charlotte credit. They're a very good basketball team. I'll take the blame for this. I just didn't get the right guys in at the right time. I thought the game was more back-and-forth and it was there for the taking, but for some reason we just couldn't get over that hump."
On Charlotte's attack "Nance did a very good job moving the ball up and down the court, and he's so quick. He also had a lot of other guys to help him out as well. I don't think our defense did a very good job of adjusting once they started to attack us. It's one thing to attack us, but to be able to attack us and get lay-ups and move the ball across the court is another. If you look at Nance's stats, you'll see that he was the by-product of guys penetrating and getting the ball to him for the easy shots. Charlotte is a very good basketball team and we didn't play one of our better games. Even up until the last minute we were right there, but we had a couple breakdowns, which didn't help us."
On the loss at home "Demario (Eddins) played quite well tonight, and I thought we did a good job of getting him in and out of there so he could play at the end, but maybe he did get a little tired. But, we'll learn from this and we'll get a lot better. One game doesn't make a season. We had a great run here as far as doing so well at home. Now we've got to go somewhere and steal one where no one thinks we can."
