Hurricane Ivan Alters Blazer Schedules

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB men's soccer team and the UAB volleyball team will have its weekend schedule altered due to the impending landfall of Hurricane Ivan.
The UAB La Quinta Classic, hosted by the UAB men's soccer team, was scheduled for Friday and Sunday. The tournament will now run from Saturday-Sunday. Saturday, Western Kentucky (3-2) will face Birmingham-Southern (2-2) at noon and UAB (1-3) will square off against Conference USA foe Charlotte (1-1) at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Birmingham-Southern and Charlotte will meet and noon and UAB will close the tournament against Western Kentucky at 2:30 p.m.
Tickets for each day of the tournament are $5 for adults, $2 for children ages 3-12, children 2 and under are admitted free and UAB students are admitted free with a valid student ID.
The UAB volleyball team was scheduled to play in the War Eagle Invitational in Auburn, Ala. Friday-Saturday. The tournament will now be held from Saturday-Sunday. However, UAB (0-7) will play both of its matches Saturday as Jackson State decided to withdraw from the tournament.
The Blazers were scheduled to play Jackson State Friday at 5 p.m. UAB will now meet Belmont (7-2) at 11 a.m. Saturday and will square off against host Auburn University (4-3) at 5 p.m.
The new schedule is subject to change due to the uncertainty of the weather.
