DADE CITY, Fla. ----- Sophomore Clark Brown finished in a tie for fourth overall to lead the UAB men's golf team to a fourth-place finish at the Conference USA Men's Golf Championship. In addition, junior Chris Cousins was named All-Conference USA First Team, while Tigh VanLeeuwen was named to the third team. Brown also earned all-tournament honors for his fourth-place finish.
As a team, the Blazers showed consistent improvement on the par 72, 7,153-yard Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club. After opening the tournament with a team score of 300, the Blazers had rounds of 294 and 288 to end the tournament with an 882.
"I am proud of the way we finished," UAB head coach Alan Kaufman said. "Our guys played good throughout the tournament. This was a tough course with a lot of very good golf teams.
"Chris and Tigh definitely deserved to be named all-conference and I am happy they are receiving the deserved recognition. Both were big reasons for our success on the season."
Brown finished Wednesday's final round with a one-under par, 71, to close tournament play with a 218 (75-72-71). The fourth-place finish was his best of the 2003-04 campaign. Junior Ryan Thomas had the best day of all the UAB golfers, finishing with a two-under 70 on Wednesday. Thomas ended the tournament tied for 15th overall with a 221 (76-75-70).

Guided by Adam Meyer's wire-to-wire lead, the No. 10 ranked TCU men's golf team turned in a final round score of 287 to claim its third straight Conference USA Tournament title. Meyer claimed medalist honors, following rounds of 68 and 69, Monday and Tuesday, with a three-under par, 69 on the final day for a tournament best 206, finishing 10 under par.
