UAB Women's Basketball Loses At Tennessee Tech, 67-55

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. --- The UAB women's basketball team got as close as five, 55-50, with 6:43 left in the game, but could not hold off a late charge by Tennessee Tech, as it fell to the Golden Eaglettes, 67-55, on Tuesday night.
The Blazers (0-3) were led by Crystal McFadden's 21 points and two steals. Carmen Guzman added 16 points and three assists. Additionally, senior Lia Green set a career high with nine boards in the contest.
UAB set several season-bests in the game, including 55 total points, 20 offensive rebounds, nine assists and a 35.7 shooting percentage from beyond the arc. For the first time this season, UAB outrebounded its opponent, besting Tennessee Tech, 37-33.
The Golden Eaglettes (2-1) were led by Kristina Tyler and Kendall Cavin, who had 18 points a piece. Emily Christian added 14 to the cause.
Tennessee Tech held a 38-27 lead at the break, hitting 56.0 percent of its shots. The Blazers shot 37.9 percent from the floor in the first half, a season best for UAB. McFadden led the Blazers with nine points. UAB also tallied 14 rebounds, including nine offensive boards.
Next, the Blazers travel to Fort Collins, Colo., to compete in the Coors Rocky Mountain Invitational hosted by Colorado State University, Nov. 26-27.
