BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Zack Sucher, a standout golfer from Mobile, Ala., and St. Paul Episcopal School, and Josh Thompson, a standout linkster from Indianapolis, Ind., and Warren Central High School, have signed National Letters-of-Intent to play college golf for UAB, head coach Alan Kaufman announced today. The pair make up the fall signing class for Kaufman's UAB men's golf program.
Sucher is considered to be one of the top junior golfers in Alabama and is rated among the top 75 players in the country by Golfweek Magazine. He has won several Southeast Junior Tournaments and was runner up in the Southern Junior Championship this year.
Thompson, the first Indiana-native to sign with UAB's golf program, has enjoyed an outstanding high school career and is rated one of the top players in the state of Indiana. Last summer's highlights for Thompson included playing in the U.S. Junior Championships and finishing second in the AJGA tournament in Michigan.
"These are both outstanding young men who bring a lot to our program at UAB," Kaufman said. "We're thrilled they have chosen to continue their golf and academic careers with us here."
