BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Behind 16-point, 14-kill efforts by both senior middle blocker Janet Goreham and junior outside hitter Mandy Moorberg, DePaul (8-12, 1-3 Conference USA) defeated UAB, 30-24, 30-23, 30-16, in Conference USA volleyball action Friday afternoon at Bartow Arena.
Moorberg added 10 digs and two service aces, while hitting for .385, and Goreham posted a .346 hitting percentage. Senior outside hitter Amy Holmes added 43 assists for the Blue Demons.
UAB (1-16, 0-5 C-USA) was led by junior outside hitter Isabel Oquendo who had 11 points on nine kills. Sophomore middle blocker Cassi Ociesa had 10.5 points on eight kills and three total blocks for the Blazers. Sophomore setters Jenna Link and Kaitlyn Filar had 13 and 12 assists respectively for UAB.
UAB returns home to Bartow Arena Saturday to face C-USA foe Marquette at 7 p.m.
