UAB Women's Basketball Defeated by Memphis, 93-64

MEMPHIS, Tenn. ----- The UAB women's basketball team suffered its worst loss of the season, despite a career-high 28 points by freshman Crystal McFadden, as it was beaten by Memphis, 93-64, here Friday night.
The Lady Blazers continue to look for their first road win of the season, as they are now 0-6 on their opponents' home court.
The Lady Blazers (7-11, 1-4) had a season-high 28 turnovers, allowing Memphis to tally 41 points off of those miscues. The Lady Tigers turned the ball over a mere eight times in the game. Memphis' bench was also pivotal, scoring 26 points compared to six by UAB.
UAB shot 40.3 percent for the game, hitting 25-of-62 attempts; however, the Lady Blazers struggled beyond the arc, connecting on 2-of-8 attempts. UAB controlled the boards, recording 41 rebounds in the contest.
McFadden was 13-of-19 from the floor en route to setting her career high. Natasha Thomas and Gennifer Bridges each contributed 14 points to the cause. Thomas also had seven rebounds in the contest.
Memphis' (12-6, 2-3) 93 points were the most allowed by UAB this season. The Lady Tigers had five players score in double-digits, as they shot 52.3 percent for the game. Jennifer Sullivan led Memphis with 23 points, while Megan Gooch collected a team-high four rebounds.
At the half, UAB was down, 48-31, as Memphis scored 22 points off of the Lady Blazers' 15 turnovers. The Lady Tigers also stole the ball 11 times in the first 20 minutes of action. In addition, UAB committed 11 fouls, allowing Memphis to go to the line 13 times, compared to only six free throws of their own.
UAB continues its road trip, heading to face the Billikens of Saint Louis University on Sunday, Jan. 25, at 2 p.m.
