BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB women's basketball team has hired Mitch White as an assistant coach, according to an announcement by head coach Jeannie Milling.
White was an assistant for UAB under Milling from 1989-1990. During White's tenure at UAB, the Lady Blazers posted a 19-11 record and were co-champions of the Sun Belt Conference.
A 1981 graduate of Baptist University, White most recently coached at West Ashley High School in Charleston, S.C. He was the assistant basketball coach from 2000-2001, as well as an assistant baseball coach (2000-02). White has coached at three different high schools in South Carolina over his 22-year career.
"We are extremely pleased to have Mitch as a part of our program again," said Milling. "He did a great job for us before, recruiting and signing outstanding former Lady Blazers Vonda Scott and Shyronda Mifflin. Mitch is a talented coach and teacher of the game. He'll be involved in training our post players as well as recruiting."
In 1988, White received his Masters of Education in Social Science from The Citadel in Charleston, S.C.
White is married to Cathy White and has two daughters, Laura Elizabeth and Emily Michelle.
