UAB Women's Basketball Set To Host Lady Blazer Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB women's basketball team will host the Lady Blazer Invitational on Dec. 29-30, featuring Brown, San Diego State and UT-Martin. On Monday, UAB plays Brown at 6 p.m., followed by San Diego State against UT-Martin at 8 p.m. On Tuesday, games will be played at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., with UAB taking the court in the second game.
UAB will be playing Brown for the first time in school history. If the Lady Blazers play San Diego State, it will be another first; however, UAB holds a 3-1 advantage in its series against UT-Martin.
Brown is 2-5 overall and have not played since a 73-45 loss to Boston College on Dec. 7. They are led by senior forward Nyema Mitchell, who averages 12.4 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. San Diego State is coming off a 63-56 win at Washington State on Monday. The Aztecs are currently 4-5, including an impressive 3-1 road record. SDSU's leading scorer is Michelle Elliott, who averages 13.8 ppg, while Ashlee Dunlap is currently averaging 10.9 boards per game. UT-Martin improved to 2-5 overall after a 72-69 overtime win versus Arkansas-Little Rock on Dec. 18. Julie Young leads the Skyhawks with 14.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per contest.
