Men's Golf Team Finishes First Tournament Of Fall Season

TOLEDO, Ohio ----- UAB completed play at the Inverness Intercollegiate Invitational here Tuesday, finishing in 15th place overall. The Blazers finished tournament play carding a 942 (314-311-317) in the two-day tournament on the par 71, 7,255-yard course.
Leading the way for the Blazers was Chris Cousins who tied for 51st overall with a three day total of 232 (74-79-79), followed by Ryan Thomas who tied for 57th with a 234 (82-75-77). Rounding out the UAB golfers were Brad Connor who placed in a tie for 66h (77-80-81 - 238), Robert Svensson who placed 70th (82-77-80 - 239) and Bobby Spiller who placed 74th (81-85-82 - 248).
Florida won the tournament by nine strokes with a final score of 878, followed by Oklahoma State with a 887. Kansas State (889), Michigan State (889) and tournament host Toledo (891) rounded out the top five.
The Blazers will next compete at the Cardinal Intercollegiate in Louisville, Ky. on Sept. 29 through Oct. 2.
