McDowell Finishes Fifth at Cleveland Golf/ASU Invitational

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Third-ranked UAB men's golfer Graeme McDowell fired a 10-under par 206 to finish 5th at the Cleveland Golf/ASU Invitational held at the 6840-yard, par-72 Forest Hills Golf Course.
McDowell fired rounds of 68-71-67, his third consecutive tournament with all three rounds under par. The Portrush, n. Ireland native finished just three shots off Tennessee's David Skimm who claimed individual honors with 203.
The 27th-ranked Blazers finished tied for 10th with North Florida after rounds of 288-288-286 for a 862 total. Tennessee (841) took the win by five strokes over Wake Forest (846). Clemson finished in third with 849, while North Carolina State and Florida tied for fourth with 851.
UAB's Craig Gordon carded a 2-under par 70 in final round action after posting scores of 73-75 on Saturday. The Edinburg, Scotland native's 218 score was good enough for a share of 42nd spot.
Freshman Ryan Thomas finished Saturday with 75-71 and followed it with a 1-over par 73 Sunday to finish up at 219, tied for 47th.
Sophomores Chad Goodwin and Bobby Spiller rounded out the Blazer line-up with 225 and 235, respectively.
The Blazers with be back in action on April 22-24 at the Conference USA Championship in Navarre, Fla.
