Men's Tennis Falls To No. 59 UNLV

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The 59th-ranked UNLV men?s tennis team ended UAB?s six-match winning streak, defeating the Blazers 4-2 in first round play of the 2002 HEB Collegiate Tennis Championships. The Rebels posted victories in the 1-4 singles spots to clinch the victory.
Sanzaruz Zaman had UAB?s only singles win, as he topped Leslie Estnga 7-5, 2-6, 6-2 at No. 5 singles.
Alex Jung and Tobi Klein posted a 8-6 victory over Estnga and Thomas Michaud at No. 1 doubles and Andre van der Merwe and George Dubrava clinched the doubles point for the Blazers with their 8-3 win over Avi Salomon and Romain Tag at No. 3 doubles.
UAB (6-2, 2-0 Conference USA) returns to action tomorrow, as the team will face Ball State in second round play at 8:30 a.m.
