GAINSVILLE, Fla. - Graeme McDowell fired rounds of 65-67 to help put the 20th-ranked Blazers into first place after two rounds at the Gator Invitational, held at the par-70 University of Florida Golf Course. The Blazers shot rounds of 274-282 for a two-round 556 total, putting them nine shots ahead of third-ranked Florida.
A junior from Portrush, Northern Ireland, McDowell fired a two-round 8-underpar total of 132 to capture the first day's lead by three strokes over Scott Jamieson of Augusta State who shot 70-65/135.
The Blazers had three other golfers in the top-20. Junior Daniel Ozley sits in sole possesion of eighth place after firing rounds of 68-71 for a 1-under par 139 total. Sophomore Chad Goodwin shot fired rounds of 70-72/142 to place him in a tie for 13th. Senior Craig Gordon rounded out the top-20 finishers for the Blazers with rounds of 71-72/143 to capture a tie for 17th place.
Freshman Blazke Mozley struggled in the first two rounds shooting 76-75 for a 151 total. He is tied for 60th place.
In the team competition, the Blazers sit on top with 556, followed by Florida (565), 24th-ranked Augusta State (566), LSU (566) and Georgia State (570).
The tournament will conclude with the final round beginning Sunday morning.
