Men's Tennis Team Begins Play At 2002 Ragin' Cajun Classic

In the opening round, Mancarello defeated John Geurrero of Lamar, 6-1, 6-4. Russ Patrick of Louisiana-Lafayette was the next to fall to Mancarello, 6-0, 6-0. Mancarello will face Neils Buksik of Texas-Arlington on Saturday in the quarterfinals.
Both Blazer representatives in Flight "A" singles fell in their opening matches, dropping them to the consolation bracket of the flight. Ruben Zrihen fell to Max Fomine of Mississippi State, 6-1, 7-6. In Zrihen's consolation match, he was defeated by Nicolas Carteret of Southern Miss, 6-2, 6-3.
Ivan Andreev lost to David Canudas of Southern Miss, 6-0, 6-1 in his first match. In the consolation round, Andreev defeated Jerome Lebelicard of Mississippi State, 6-4, 7-5. Andreev will face the winner of the match between Naeem Kath of Lamar and Brandon Nicholason of LSU on Saturday.
In Flight "A" doubles, Mancarello and partner Zrihen fell to Jerome Lebelicard and Max Fomine of Mississippi State, 8-3. They will face the winner when LSU's Nicholson and Cory Ross take on Ivan Kovalev and Jakub Ilowski of Louisiana-Lafayette.
The 2002 Ragin' Cajun Classic continues on Saturday and Sunday at the Oakbourne Country Club.
