BIRMINGHAM, Ala.----- In what is expected to be a pivotal Conference USA matchup, the UAB football team (4-4, 3-1 C-USA) is set to square off against its rival Southern Miss (5-3, 3-1 C-USA) in a matchup featuring two of the three teams which are currently tied for second place in the conference standings.
The Blazers are coming off an open date, while Southern Miss last took the field on October 30th, falling to conference-leading TCU, 37-7. The Blazers practiced in cool temperatures; however, the inconsistent weather during the week does not worry UAB head coach Watson Brown's feelings about his team's readiness for this game.
"I thought practice went very good today and went well for the rest of the week," Brown said. "The weather has not really bothered us. With this week being a rivalry game, it makes it a little easier on the coach than other weeks. But this is just as big as the Army game two weeks ago and the East Carolina game next week. From here on out, every game is going to be a big game."
The Blazers and Golden Eagles will kick off on Saturday, November 9, at 2 p.m. on Legion Field. The game will be televised on Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast and will also be a part of the ESPN Game Plan package.
