Volleyball Team Falls To Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville (22-4, 11-1 Conference USA) extended its winning streak to four matches, as the Cardinals topped UAB (13-18, 5-7 Conference USA) 30-14, 30-16, 30-15 in Conference USA volleyball action Friday evening at Cardinal Arena. The loss snapped a three-match winning streak for the Blazers.
Junior outside hitter Martina Shields led UAB with nine kills and eight digs. Senior setter Dina Katsoulis added 22 assists for the Blazers.
"Louisville played a great match tonight," said UAB head coach Melinda Claiborne. "They are the best team we have seen all year. They really out-played us and dominated the match. We battled them at times, but we didn't execute as well as we should have against a team of their caliber."
Sophomore outside hitter Bing Sun led Louisville with 11 kills, nine digs and a .526 hitting percentage. Freshman setter Jennifer Craven recorded 32 assists , five kills, eight digs and a .571 hitting percentage for the Cardinals.
UAB will travel to Cincinnati to face the Bearcats in a C-USA matchup Sunday at 2 p.m. (ET).
