Women's Basketball Falls To Cincinnati 78-35

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Valerie King had 19 points and Debbie Merrill added 14 points to help lift Cincinnati (14-4, 3-3 Conference USA) to a 78-35 victory over UAB (8-11, 0-6 C-USA) in Conference USA women's basketball action at the Shoemaker Center.
The Bearcats shot 45.3 percent from the field and 81.8 percent from the free throw line and held UAB to 28 percent shooting from the floor. Cincinnati also outrebounded UAB 44-32.
Natasha Thomas led UAB with 14 points and nine rebounds.
The Bearcats took the lead at 4-3 with 16:51 remaining to play in the first half and never looked back.
Cincinnati used a 19-0 run early in the first half to jump out to a 21-3 advantage with 10:46 remaining to play in the half.
Cincinnati led 46-13 at halftime behind 13 points from King and 11 points from Merrill. The Bearcats also shot 52.5 percent from the field, while holding UAB to 24 percent shooting from the floor in the first half.
UAB next travels to Louisville to face the Cardinals Sunday at 1:30 p.m. (ET) at Freedom Hall in a game that will be televised by ESPN2.
