Women's Basketball Falls To Louisville 68-53

LOUSIVILLE, Ky. - Behind 44.8 percent shooting from the field and 11 points from Sabrina Minter, Louisville (13-7, 5-2 Conference USA) defeated UAB 68-53 in Conference USA women's basketball action at Freedom Hall.
Louisville held UAB (8-12, 0-7) to 31 percent shooting from the floor.
Natasha Thomas recorded her 14th double-double of the season for UAB with 20 points and 15 rebounds to lead all scorers and rebounders. Chantell Thomas posted 13 points and Shaquetta Rhodes added 10 points for the Lady Blazers.
The Cardinals held the lead for the entire second half, with their largest lead being a 23-point advantage at 62-39 with 4:23 remaining to play in the game. The closest UAB would come in the second half was a four-point deficit at 28-24 with 18:21 remaining to play in the game.
Both teams had cold shooting in the first half. UAB shot 23.1 percent from the floor in the first frame and the Cardinals shot 28.1 percent from the field. Louisville led 26-19 at the break.
UAB returns home to Bartow Arena Friday to take on C-USA rival Houston at 7 p.m.
