Women's Basketball Falls To DePaul 60-46

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The nation's fifth leading scorer Lenae Williams had 19 points and Jamie Smith and Claudette Towers each posted 10 points apiece to help lift DePaul (9-6, 2-0 Conference USA) to a 60-46 victory over UAB (8-7, 0-2 C-USA) in Conference USA women's basketball action at Bartow Arena.
Michelle Smith led UAB, scoring a season high 21 points and grabbing 14 rebounds to tie her season high. It marked Smith's second double-double in as many games.
Natasha Thomas recorded her C-USA leading 11th double-double of the season for UAB, posting 12 points and 15 rebounds.
With the exception of a 25-25 tie at the 0:39 mark of the first half, the Blue Demons never trailed.
DePaul was especially lethal from the free throw line, shooting 93.3 percent from the charity stripe. The Blue Demons had four players post perfect shooting nights from the free throw line, led by Williams who was 7-7.
UAB returns home to Bartow Arena Sunday to take on C-USA rival Marquette (8-7, 1-1 C-USA) at 2:07 p.m.
