Three Blazers Qualify For U.S. Amateur Championship

ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. - Three members of the UAB men's golf team have qualified to compete at the U.S. Amateur Championship at the East Lake Golf Club Aug. 20-26 in Atlanta. Graeme McDowell, Daniel Ozley and Payton Osborn will each represent UAB in the upcoming tournament.

Ozley and Auburn's Kevin Hafner shared co-medalist honors at the U.S. Amateur Alabama Qualifier held Monday-Tuesday at Willow Point Golf and Country Club in Alexander City, Ala. Both players shot a a six-under-par 138 to claim the victory. Osborn fired a two-under-par 142 to finish in a tie for third.

McDowell qualified for the Amateur by virtue of being selected to the Great Britain and Ireland Walker Cup team.
