Earlier this morning, Ozley defeated Scott Abbott (Dallas, Texas) on the 20th hole of play after winning the 18th hole to stay tied after regulation. Ozley went on to win the match on the second sudden death playoff hole.
This marks the first time Ozley and Graeme McDowell (Portrush, Northern Ireland) have played in tthis event. Along with Ozley's strong showing, McDowell made the 64-man event, but fell in his first match.
A rising junior, Ozley returns this fall as one of the Blazers more experienced players. He played in all 14 tournaments in 2000-01, finishing the year with four top-10 finishes. His best showing was sixth place at the Seminole Intercollegiate, ending the season with the second lowest scoring average on the team with a 73.1, 1.8 strokes behind McDowell. Ozley was a member of the five-man Blazer team that participated in last spring's NCAA Championship at Duke University in Durham, N.C.
The Blazers begin their fall team schedule overseas in the Topy Cup on Sept. 6-7 in Fukushima, Japan.
