UAB Baseball Announces 11 Signees For The 2002 Season

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB baseball coach Larry Giangrosso announced today the signing of 11 players for the 2002 campaign.
The players include: infielders J.B. Fesmire (5-11, 185, Olive Branch, Miss./Olive Branch HS), Josh Terry (6-0, 170, INF, Town Creek, Ala./Hatton HS), Seth Rollin (5-10, 180, Montgomery, Ala./ Jeff Davis HS), Michael Repole (6-5, 210, Birmingham, Ala./Oak Mountain HS), outfielder Chad House (6-2, 170, Memphis, Tenn., Christian Brothers). catcher Justin Miller (5-11, 215, Alberta, Canada/Colby (Kan.) CC) and pitchers Cody Cillo (6-2, 195, Lynwood, Wash./Edmonds (Wash.) CC), Jeff Brown (6-1, 160, Montgomery, Ala./Calvary Christian Aca.), Tony Falls (6-3, 180, Montgomery, Ala./Robert E. Lee HS), Rusty McIntyre (6-1, 215, Decatur, Ala./Decatur HS) and Mike Jensen (6-4, 215, Knoxville, Iowa/Knoxville HS).
"Our recruiting class has filled our needs due to graduation," Giangrosso said. "By signing a mostly freshman class, we look for these players to be our foundation over the next few years as we continue to build this program into a winner."
A trio of signees were all-state performers include Terry, a Birmingham News 2A pick, Rollin, a 6A nod by The Birmingham News and city of Montgomery 6A Player of the Year along with, Repole, who was a 5A all-state honoree.
One signee, outfielder/pitcher Edwin Jackson (6-3, 180, Columbus, Ga./Shaw HS), will forgo playing with the Blazers as he has instead opted for professional baseball. The Player of the Year in the state of Georgia garnered a sixth-round selection in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers and signed with the organization earlier this week.
