Louisville Shutouts Blazer Baseball in Series Finale Sunday 10-0

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Mike Hook highlighted a six-run second inning by blasting a grand slam to help lead Louisville to a 10-0 Conference USA victory over UAB here Sunday at Young Memorial Field in a game shortened to seven innings due to a league 10-run rule.
The Cardinals (29-25, 12-12) sent 11 batters to the plate in the second inning as Matt Jarboe and Morgan Borjorquez also delivered RBI singles to finish the frame's scoring.
Hook led three different Cardinals with two hits as Borjoquez and Mark Jurich both added a pair of safeties.
UAB (24-26, 6-18) got a single apiece from Cory Acklus, Brandon Isbell and Mark Garner.
Chase Cruse (3-1) tossed a two-hitter over six innings as he allowed just one walk and fanned a pair of Blazers to earn the victory, while Josh Ring fanned a pair and allowed a hit in the final inning of work. It the sixth shutout by the Cards this season, tying a single-season UofL of record.
Ross Dobbbins (5-4) was the first of five UAB pitchers on the afternoon and allowed six runs (five earned) on six hits and two strikeouts to suffer the loss
The Blazers return to action Tuesday when they play host to Samford in a non-conference contest. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Young Memorial Field.
