McDowell Wins Second Straight Atlanta Intercollegiate

STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. - After firing a course record 8-under par 64 in the first round of the Atlanta Intercollegiate, 71st-ranked Graeme McDowell of the UAB men's golf team, added rounds of 69 and 71 to capture the title for the second consecutive year at the par 72, 6899-yard Eagle's Landing Country Club in Stockbridge.
McDowell, whose 64 was a season-low, finished the tournament at 204, two strokes better than fourth-ranked Nick Cassini (66-71-69/206) of Georgia. Bulldog teammate Bryant Odom (73-68-66/207) finished third while Lars Brovold of Alabama (67-75-69/211) finished in fourth spot.
First-ranked Georgia ran away with the team title shooting 833, 18 strokes ahead of second place Florida (851). UAB finished third (870), followed by Alabama (881), North Florida (885), Georgia State (887), Mississippi State (905), Central Florida (915) and Tennessee (943).
Turning in another solid performance for the Blazers was Payton Osborn. Tied for 14th, Osborn fired rounds of 72-72-74 for a 2-over par 218. Daniel Ozley (75-72-78/225) and Craig Gordon (74-76-75/225) both tied for 23rd place while teammate Drew Jones (84-74-79/237) finished in a tie for 40th spot.
The Blazers will play in the NCAA East Regional beginning next Thursday, May17 at the Green Course of the Golden Horseshoe Golf Course in Williamsburg, Va.
