UAB Women's basketball coach Jeannie Milling announced the signing of Shakira Wardally to a National Letter of Intent.
Forward Katie Billue of Guntersville, Ala. is the other spring signee.
Wardally, a 5-foot-10 point-guard, averaged 13.3 points per game. She was selected All-Southern Conference by the Florida Community College Athletic Association. She was also chosen as the FCCAA's Player of the Week during the conference tournament. With Wardally running the offense, Miami-Dade was eighth in the nation in scoring, averaging 87.1 points per game.
"Shakira can play the point or the two-guard position and is a great athlete who should be able to step in and help right away," Milling said. "She can penetrate and she can score. Shakira completes what I believe is an outstanding recruiting class.
In addition to the 6-0 Billue, UAB signed 6-3 forward Lia Green, of Vicksburg, Miss., 6-0 guard/forward Christina Frank of Louisville, Kentucky, 5-9 guard Chantell Thomas of Kissimmee, Fla. and 5-11 guard Laura Waldrop of Prattville, Ala in the fall signing period.
The Lady Blazers were 20-11 this year and advanced to the final eight of the Women's National Invitational Tournament.
