McDowell Leads Alabama Invite After Firing Second Round 68

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - UAB's Graeme McDowell fired a four-under par 68 to take the lead at the Conrad Rehling Alabama Invitational in Tuscaloosa. McDowell was tied for fourth after shooting a first round even par 72. With a four-under par, 140 total, McDowell is three shots ahead of DJ Fiese of Georgia State and Lars Brovold of Alabama, both with 143. McDowell's score was the lowest round of the day and the tournament so far.
In the team competition, UAB and College of Charleston shot the low round of the day and the tournament with a 292. With its 596 total, the Blazers jumped from sole possession of seventh place into a tie for fourth place with Vanderbilt. College of Charleston held on to their first day lead with a 585, seven strokes ahead of Southeastern Louisiana (592) and eight strokes ahead of Georgia State (593).
Also for the Blazers, Payton Osborn fired an even par 72 after a first round 79 to finish the day at 151, tied for 29th. Daniel Ozley is tied for 38th with 153 while Connor Doran is tied for 48th with a 156. After injuring his back on the first day of play, Craig Gordon fired a 75 for a 157 and is tied for 52nd.
The tournament will wrap up its final round of play Sunday beginning at 8 a.m.
